I love the new restaurants that are opening these days in Las Vegas. We are a city of truly beautiful restaurants that are increasingly expanding their menus to accommodate those that have dietary issues or wanting plant-based eating options. We are certainly living in the the dawn of a new age of dining out and it was very evident by my visit to the new Poppy Den in Tivoli Village.
This is a beautiful location near Summerlin and The Poppy Den has done a wonderful job of transforming the space in this little village to provide something that is light, airy, and very inviting. Chef Angelo Sosa has crafted a very diverse, creative, and yet comforting menu that includes a number of vegan options, with more to certainly come. I was so impressed by the graciousness of the staff and the interest that they took in making sure my vegan meal was pleasing to me in every way.
The Quinoa “Fried Rice” with Sun Dried Pineapple, scallions, and sweet and sour vinaigrette was absolutely delightful. I could have had two plates of this and had a very satisfying meal. I really wanted to try something else and I ordered the Tofu Sandwich, with thick grilled slices between slices of baguettes (the vegan option), bibb lettuce, carrot slaw, and a light dressing. It was served with garlic fries and was really a very pleasurable sandwich to eat. Their sweet and sour pickles are not vegan right now but they are working on a vegan variety right now.
I would certainly encourage you to visit Poppy Den in Tivoli Village. I am already looking forward to my next little culinary encounter with them. The Pea Soup, Blistered Shishito Peppers, and Taboulleh Wrap are calling out to me. Just let your server know that you are vegan and they will take care of you from there. If the food, their attitude, and the friendliness of their staff is any indication, Poppy Den is going to thrive and be a part of this Las Vegas culinary scene for a long time to come.
