Eating Vegan In Vegas

A Protein-Packed Pocket

For my money, if you want something that is healthy, simple, and will fill you up for a good part of the day…I enjoy a good falafel sandwich.  We are fortunate to have many places around this Las Vegas Valley where you can find a good one.  One of those places is Paymon’s Mediterranean Cafe on W. Sahara.  Paymon’s has over 30 vegetarian items, with a number of them that can be modified for vegans.

They have a couple of different falafel sandwich options for vegans, the regular Falafel Pita and the Falamus Pita.  I went with the latter.  Paymon’s has delicious fresh falafel (you can tell by the bright green color on the inside) made from chickpeas and fava beans, vegetables, and herbs.  They stuff it in a warm pita bread pocket with lettuce, tomato, and tahini sauce. With the Falamus they also slather it with their delicious hummus to give you an extra taste and protein-boost. A little messy, but really good.

It was a delightful meal and carried me through most of my day.  Paymon’s also has a gourmet spice section in the front of the restaurant where you can purchase spices from around the world for your cooking at home along with cookbooks.  It is good to know that there is another go-to spot on the west side of town when I am getting the falafel feeling…which is fairly often I must admit.  Plus I like saying Falamus…
