Sometimes I walk into a place that I have not been to before and I just get a really good feeling. That is exactly how I felt just the other day. There is a great new little restaurant that has just opened on the Westside that offers some great local and organic meal options for vegans and those wanting some healthy meal options. After talking a little with one of the owners, Reza Arshadi, I was even more enthused about the possibilities.
The spot is well-lit and sparkling. Presto Cafe has breakfast, lunch, and dinner options along with a juice bar. A few of the items are good to go on their own and few others you will need to modify a little to go from vegetarian to vegan. For breakfast you can get a bowl with black beans, corn, avocado, cherry tomatoes, red onions, and potatoes just leave out the eggs and cheese and maybe double up on something else. I came in for lunch and had a trio of small salads that were colorful, fresh, and delicious. Each came in a little bowl and bed of bright, crisp butter lettuce and each had a wonderful light dressing to them. I had the Strawberry, Arugula, and Apples; Cauliflower, Golden Raisins, Almonds, and Curry; and the Black Beans, Corn, Avocado, Tomatoes, Onions, and Cilantro. It was a great combo.
They have a great looking Vegetarian Sandwich that you would just need to leave off the goat cheese and we have to confirm if the bread is in fact vegan. They have a really good line-up of fresh smoothies and juices. I tried the Brain Power…I need all of the help that I can get…with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, almond milk and flax seeds. It was excellent and I will be back to try some more. Presto Cafe is just one of those places that makes you feel good when you come in and hopefully even a little bit better when you are ready to leave. I enjoyed it very much. I love their concept and I know that there are more good things on the way…stay tuned.
