A Kinder Way Beyond Meat is Here
It is finally here. The Beyond Meat product has found it’s way to the Whole Foods Market at Town Square, at least in the prepared food section at this point…but it has arrived. This is a product that can be a game-changer in so many ways. Up to this point, these chick’n strips made primarily from soy isolates, pea protein, and the ancient grain amaranth have been in stores in Northern California and Maryland and receiving rave reviews. They are not available for purchase in packages yet, but that does not mean you can’t still enjoy Beyond Meat here in Las Vegas now whenever you like.
I personally don’t have a problem with a product that resembles meat, because I know what it really is and I know that no animals have been harmed in the production of it. It is a product that adds a great protein source and texture to many dishes, just like tofu. Now, if that is still not your thing…that is okay. March on. But we have to look at the big picture of things and realize what goes beyond our personal preferences and that which can help others to transition to and stay eating plant-based. This can help in a major way towards helping people move away from animal products and that is what is important, especially to the animals.
I know Beyond Meat is being used at The Town Square Whole Foods. I am sure that the other area stores will follow suit if they are not doing so already. The Town Square store is already using it on their vegan pizzas, it is in the taco bar, and they are creating some special sandwiches using the Beyond Meat strips. I decided to make a plate of it and had some of the Sesame Chick’n Salad using the product, along with some brussels sprouts with shallots and pecans and some Asian cucumber salad. This was a great lunch! The brussels sprouts and cucumber salad were a great compliment to the Sesame Chick’n salad, full of the Beyond Meat product. I can easily say that this is by far the best product of its kind that I have tried from a taste and texture point of you. It is actually quite remarkable. I can’t wait to use it in a stir-fry or in one of my pasta dishes.
Another benefit of Beyond Meat is that it does not contain wheat so it is great for those who have a challenge with gluten. The young lady who was helping me at the counter does have an issue with gluten and is so excited about this product because of that. It is only going to be a matter of time before Beyond Meat finds it’s way into our homes and other area restaurants. As more and more people move away from meat and dairy towards conscious eating and lifestyle, I believe that we are going to continue to see wonderful new products like Beyond Meat come on the scene and provide kinder and healthier alternatives. This is part of the positive evolution of food. The shift is on.
