Raw & Delish At Whole Foods Markets

It was lunchtime and I was out and about and wanted to find a place to eat that was fairly close by.  I am a week now into my month-long raw vegan adventure and things are going very well.  My body is reacting very well to a slight shift in my food intake and I am seeing some positive results.  I was fairly close to one of the Whole Foods Markets here in Las Vegas and I was pretty sure that I was going to be able to find something raw and delish. I was absolutely correct about that.

There were a number of options available at the expansive salad bars but I chose to get a raw Mexicali Pizza in the prepared foods section from Raw Makery.  I have had other things from Raw Makery before and they always satisfied.  The raw Mexicale Pizza had a delicious sprouted buckwheat crust that was topped with amazing layers of guacamole, mexi pate, veggies, sprouts, and a raw sour cream made from coconut flesh, pine nuts, herbs, coconut oil and hemp seeds.  The ingredients on all of this are too many to mention but it all worked together fabulously.  Loaded with flavor and healthy goodness.

For the sake of “research”, I also decided to see if I could find a raw dessert available.  Back in the dessert section there a number of prepared desserts and they certainly have a number of raw desserts available.  I went for a popular one, the Raw Vegan Carob Mousse Pie.  It is made by Earth Cafe in Southern California.  This was a winner of the Veg Times Foodie Award. Dairy-free, gluten-free, cholesterol-free, no hydrogenated oils and all natural ingredients.  I like that they say it is made with “love” and also “Who is your Daddy?” on the label.  It’s the little things.  Oh…and it was really, really good. Even better than I could have imagined.  Lucky me.
