Spicy Little Pillows at Triple George

I remember the day not too long ago when I ventured to Downtown Las Vegas perhaps on business and thought about the possibility of a vegan-friendly meal. It was REALLY a struggle to come up with something.  Then I found the Beat Coffee House and was able to enjoy a few things.  Not too long after came the opening of Pura Vida, all vegan—all of the time.  Le Thai opened on E. Fremont St.  Bar+Bistro added three pages of vegan items to their menu. Mundo added a veg section to their menu in the World Market Center.  The Red Velvet Cafe opened a small outpost in the Lou Ruvo Institute/ Cleveland Clinic near the Smith Center. You can now get vegan pizza at Pop Up Pizza in the Plaza.  And of course, there is the new vegan menu at Triple George.

I have loved the two items on that vegan menu that I have tried previously and blogged about, the Vegan Burger with Truffle Fries and the Gardein Chick’n Marsala.  I was Downtown again today and wanted to drop by Triple George for lunch and try another menu item.  Parking was easy down on 3rd St. across from the restaurant and I was seated up at the bar.  I opted for the Vegan Ravioli…stuffed with a tofu mixture…surrounded by tomatoes, asparagus, peppers, mushrooms and a spicy marinara.  And spicy it was…spicy delicious.  Little pillows of tofu goodness smothered in vegetables and a sauce with a kick.  It was even better than I had hoped for.

So far…so very good with Triple George.  I know that as the Downtown continues to evolve we are going to see more and more menu offerings at existing and new restaurants to come that will please everyone with a plant-based diet.  This is where I believe we are headed as a society and I can see the Downtown Las Vegas area as being a hotbed for vegan-friendly eating. We are well on our way to that place right now…
