Yes, it was one of those nights when pizza seemed aptly appropriate. I know…most nights, huh?  One of the things that I have had to encourage so many people with when making a switch to a plant-based diet is that you do not need to give up many of the foods you love…you just need to approach them a little differently.  Pizza is one of those foods.  Frankly speaking, one of the things that makes regular pizza unhealthy for those who eat it on a regular basis is the meat and cheese that is put on top of it.  Eliminate those things and you can enjoy some wonderful creations that are kind to you, animals, and the environment.

These are all values that are encouraged at Pizza Fusion and that is one of the reasons I enjoy it there so much.  They are a chain that is committed to using fresh ingredients, organic and local whenever possible, vegan-friendly options, and are sustainable and feature many energy and environmental saving features at every restaurant.  Each restaurant is full of recycled materials.  One of their slogans is “Saving the Earth One Pizza at a Time.”  Works for me.  

This time in I tried the BBQ Chicken Pizza with Gardein substituted for the chicken and Daiya for the other cheeses.  I like the organic whole-grain crust.  Fresh chopped basil on top.  It was an excellent little pizza.  I like that the individual size pizzas are four pieces and a very good portion.  We paired it with a half Fusion Salad and it was a great little meal.  I did not order the vegan brownie for dessert because I still had a brownie with sea salt waiting at home from my visit to Veg Out.  That really topped things off wonderfully.

Pizza Fusion is a model for other restaurant chains to follow.  They are doing things the right way and are striving to always get better.  You can’t ask for anything more than that.  I would encourage you to give them some love and let the pizza give you a little love back.  That is Pizza Fusion love at its finest. Next Saturday, June 30, is National Vegan Pizza Day…here is one place you can celebrate for sure.
