I would never discourage anyone from going to Italy.  The magic there is just too strong and wonderful.  But let’s just say that in between now and your next trip there…you need to indulge in some of what could be considered the next best thing…spirited, passionate, and delicious Italian cuisine.  Two of my favorites are right here close by…Bacio in the Tropicana and it’s sister location, Bratalian, in Henderson.  Last night was a time to celebrate life…and life is beautiful…at Bratalian as they come upon a year of providing not only amazing food, but a true sense of family to the residents of this area.  

Visitors are always welcome at Bratalian, but on any given night the restaurant will be full of locals who have become a part of this wonderful family.  Of course, both restaurants are the passionate products of the lovely whirlwind that is Chef Carla Pellegrino. Bratalian Neapolitan Cantina is under the skillful hand of Carla’s sister, Chef Alesandra Madeira and her husband, Walter Ciccone, who make it all work beautifully together. Last night the restaurant was full of valued customers and media who were treated to a little serenading by Frankie Moreno and enjoyed the wonderful food from Bratalian.  Walter set me up with a special plate of penne pasta, crushed tomatoes, eggplant and fresh basil that was simple, delicious, and amazing.  Just perfect with a glass of wine and good company. There are a number of items on the menu that are vegan-friendly with a little modifying here and there…trust me…it is so worth it!

Both Bacio and Bratalian have received numerous awards and recognition this past year. There is something special that both bring to the culinary scene here in the Las Vegas area.  It is that spirited, passionate, and delightful food that both provide, but it is also the welcoming hand that both possess that make you feel a part of a family and cared for.  Something very old world with a very modern touch.  Once again…I am reminded at Bratalian of what I already am so aware…life is indeed a beautiful journey and food is a wonderful means to gather us together so we can share that life with one another.
