Coffeehouse Meets Raw Food Kitchen

When is a coffeehouse so much more than just a place to pick up a cup of coffee or tea? We have some amazing examples of that here locally in Las Vegas with Sunrise Coffee, The Beat Coffeehouse, and Sambalatte. But there is a new player in the mix and they are taking things in a whole other very cool direction. Something’s Brewing has been open since January in the emerging Apache Plaza on South Ft. Apache and has some fantastic coffee and tea combinations along with vegetable and fruit smoothies. But what sets them apart is the Raw Food Express part of what they do.
Set in very cool and comfortably decorated establishment, Something’s Brewing offers some of the great amenities you will find in the better coffee houses with comfortable seating, free Wi-fi, and even computers to use when you don’t have yours on hand. I had one of their organic coffee drinks with 3 shots of espresso (2 come with the drink and you can get as many as you want after that for free—dangerous) and dark chocolate and almond milk and it was one of the best that I have ever had. They have other plant-based milks available as well.
Equally as wonderful is the Raw Food Express led by certified raw food Chef Sharynne Frazer and her sons. Remarkable young men you make you feels so comfortable and explain everything so well to you about how everything works and the wonderful food you are about to eat. They have a number of prepared raw food items in their case each day but they tend to sell out quickly so you can take and Order Menu with you and place your order for lunch or dinner days in advance to either enjoy there or take with you. Some of the items need time to prepare, marinate, etc. and this allows for the freshest and optimum experience for you. I placed an order and came back the next day to enjoy.
I started off with a Blackjack 21 Salad…and it is called that for a reason. It contains snap peas, black olives, broccoli, radishes, carrots. zucchini, eggplant, scallions, purple onion, chines cabbage, garbanzo beans, pinto beans, red bell pepper, roma tomatoes, organic sweet corn, 5 lettuce spring mix, mushrooms, and a tangy vinaigrette. It was a fabulous little salad with every bite full wonderful things. I then had a Raw Zucchini Wrap that was 3 large romaine lettuce leaves stuffed with zucchini, carrots, bell pepper, cauliflower, and a spread of garden hummus. They also give you a Bragg’s dipping sauce to go along with it. Fresh, vegetable crunchy with a little kick. Delicious. I enjoyed a fresh, organic lemonade to go along with it all as well. I also got some of their Raw Teriyaki Almonds to take along with me for the road. I tasted them on the way home …so good.
I will definitely be back soon to sample more raw food items, some sweets, perhaps a smoothie, and most definitely a coffee. They also sell many prep items to help you create your own raw food masterpieces. I am also giving serious consideration to a Level 1 Chef Certification Class that they are offering there in September featuring Alissa Cohen’s “Living on Live Food.” In a life that I am blessed to say that I am able to enjoy many wonderful things each and every day and meet some outstanding, talented, and compassionate people…I feel particularly blessed to have met the folks from Something’s Brewing. You need to stop by and visit and enjoy this wonderful experience. We will all become even more acquainted with them as I engage in my month of raw foods later this summer. I think I am going to be doing just fine…
