Gently Cooked at Go Raw Cafe
Going raw doesn’t necessarily mean that some things can’t be cooked…it’s just how they are cooked and up to and maintained at a certain temperature to preserve all of their goodness. Gently cooked. That’s what I had on my latest visit to the Go Raw Cafe. I have always ordered things off of the menu, but I wanted to try something from the buffet bar where there are some gently cooked items as well as a salad bar. Just like Whole Foods and other places like that, they will then weigh it and you will be charged per pound.
I decided to get a sampling of the gently cooked items. There were some seasoned organic mixed veggies, a Broccoli & Potato “Saute” with onions, and Coconut and Curry mixed vegetables with brown rice. All three were very good and made for a dynamic plate of food. The Broccoli & Potato “Saute” was surprisingly good and the Coconut and Curry mixed vegetables were outstanding. I wanted to go back for more of that.
Go Raw Cafe has two locations. One on the east side at Windmill and Eastern near Henderson and on the west side in the Lakes near Sahara and Durango. Both cafes have numerous books you can buy on raw/vegan eating. They also have other supplements and supplies to support the lifestyle. They have a great selection of fresh juices and smoothies and a complete menu of items. I really like the raw pizzas. I am going to be doing a raw month of eating coming up later this year and blogging about it and no doubt Go Raw Cafe will be somewhere you will hear much more about.
