There are not too many Thai restaurants that I do not like.  Of course I do not try everything on the menu but stick within the areas of curries and vegetable stir-frys with some tofu mixed in.  Some peanut sauce whenever possible.  Spiced on the side of hot. You know I have my favorite and yet there are some others that provide wonderful vegan menu options no matter where you might live.  Thai cuisine is always a great option for vegans. Thai Chili is a little restaurant on the cusp of Henderson at Sunset and Green Valley Parkway that offers great cuisine at affordable prices and will work with you to make many of the dishes on their menu vegan for you.

I can tell a lot about a Thai restaurant by their curries and I was interested in trying their Pineapple Curry.  This was appropriately a rich yellow curry made with coconut milk and featuring large chunks of pineapple, onion, and red and green peppers.  I had them add in some chunks of tofu and this was all delicious spooned over a healthy mound of rice.  I enjoyed each bite and the curry soup left over to finish at the end. The pineapple was wonderful in this dish and added a lot to it.

One of the things about finding a restaurant like this is the opportunity to be able to get to know the people working there a little more easily.  You will often times find the owner in the kitchen, as was the case here at Thai Chili.  It also gives them an opportunity to know you a little bit and they will look for ways to create new plant-based combinations for their regulars.  I think that it gives you an element of control in what goes into your meal that you might not always get in a larger restaurant.  I also think it is important to support those restaurants that are vegan-friendly and wanting to be even more so. You can be a catalyst and bridge to help them to do so.  Whenever you are in the Green Valley area…stop in and give Thai Chili a try.
